Flower market books blooming business
A total of 10.26 billion stems of fresh cut flowers were sold in the Kunming Dounan Flower Market in Southwest China's Yunnan province in 2021, up 25.05 percent year-on-year. As a barometer of China's flower market, the market based in Kunming saw its 2021 trade volume hit 11.2 billion yuan ($1.8 billion), up 36.8 percent year-on-year. Standing as China's largest fresh cut flower market in terms of both trade volume and export value for 23 consecutive years, Dounan has become the largest fresh cut flower trading market in Asia, with a product portfolio of fresh cut flowers, bonsai, green seedlings and gardening materials. Trade can be conducted both on-site and via electronic auction services.
Firms on Beijing bourse report annual profits
All 86 companies listed on the Beijing Stock Exchange had unveiled their preliminary 2021 earnings figures as of Monday, with 85 reporting profits, the latest data showed. The average bottom line of the 85 firms stood at 85.23 million yuan ($13.5 million), according to the Beijing bourse. A total of 43 enterprises saw their net profit exceed 50 million yuan, with Shenzhen, Guangdong province-based battery provider BTR taking the top spot with its net profit surging 187 percent year-on-year to 1.42 billion yuan. Last year, 54 firms reported bottom line growth, with four more than doubling their profit from the previous year.
