Delivery company's new Mexican operations base for wider expansion

A parcel delivery company in China said that it had begun express delivery services to Mexico on Thursday, as its first step to entering the Latin American market.
J&T Express, a fast growing company established in 2015, has set up 12 transfer hubs and 26 distribution centers covering major areas across all of the country's 32 States. The Mexican version of the service's application will be launched soon.
Hou Junyi, J&T Express vice president, said the company values the Latin American market and the launch of its service in Mexico is a milestone for its international strategic plans.
"As a logistics hub in Latin America, Mexico is home to many Latin American companies and is an important strategic gateway for J&T Express in developing the broader market," said Ryan Zhang, who is in charge of the company's business in Mexico, adding that their goal is to ensure a pleasant experience for Mexican customers.
The company's parcel delivery network already extends to 11 countries and regions, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia.
Leading parcel delivery businesses have been urged to start operations abroad, to improve international networks and build major hubs.
Ma Junsheng, head of the State Postal Bureau of China, said that he has often urged parcel delivery companies to set their sights on foreign markets.
Last year, Chinese parcel delivery companies built 240 overseas storage warehouses with a total area of nearly 2 million square meters. They also handled 2.2 billion international parcels, as well as parcels to and from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions and Taiwan, lending their support to the development of cross-border e-commerce.
In June, 16 parcel delivery companies, including ZTO Express, SF Express and J&T Express, launched an alliance to promote the development of international express deliveries.
China's parcel delivery business has undergone rapid development in the past decade. Last year, the sector handled more than 100 billion parcels, ranking No 1 in the world in terms of volume.
