FTA with Cambodia to benefit biz, peoples

China and Cambodia will proactively promote the implementation of their free trade agreement, which took effect on Jan 1, to benefit enterprises and people of the two nations, China's Ministry of Commerce said on Wednesday. According to the FTA, both nations will grant zero-tariff treatment to more than 90 percent of imports from the other eventually, and the two nations will also strengthen cooperation in areas like trade in services, investment, the Belt and Road Initiative, and e-commerce, the ministry said in an online statement.

Bridge structures on metro take shape

A 54.4-kilometer railway between two neighboring cities in East China's Anhui and Jiangsu provinces is making brisk progress, with the main structures of all the bridges on its phase-II line reaching completion on Tuesday. The metro and rail-transit line connecting Anhui's Chuzhou and Jiangsu's Nanjing, with 14 stations in all, is expected to be fully operational in 2023, said State-owned China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group, one of the builders of the line. The phase-II line started construction on Dec 26, 2019. Upon completion, the metro is expected to boost integration of the Yangtze River Delta region.

China-Vietnam freight train trips double

South China's Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region handled 346 China-Vietnam freight train trips last year, up by over 108 percent from the previous year, according to China Railway Nanning Group Co Ltd. Since its launch in August 2017, the freight train service has transported a number of goods between China and ASEAN member states, including glass, cotton yarn, fruits, electronics and daily necessities. Among the imported fruit, 19,400 tons of durian, mangosteen, and longans have been transported via the freight service in 2021, up nearly 15 percent year-on-year. Some 400 China-Vietnam freight train trips are expected to be made this year.
