Chandran Nair: Promote economic recovery by pursuing common prosperity

On December 20, 2021, the Global Strategic Dialogue 2021, an international webinar for the open global economy, was co-hosted by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and China Daily in Beijing.
Chandran Nair, founder and CEO of the Global Institute for Tomorrow, a think tank based in Hong Kong and Kuala Lumpur, said in his keynote speech that in the face of the pandemic, people should reflect on the existing economic development model and think about how to maintain the basic needs of human beings instead of using the pandemic as a political tool.
The current global pandemic is still severe, and the world economy is still struggling to move forward in a stable manner. Nair pointed out that China's emphasis on common prosperity is the right development model that developing countries can learn from.
"Developing countries should actively explore new economic models. China's 'common prosperity' concept and economic development experience can inspire other developing countries," he said.
