Five paintings depicting close cross-Straits relations will be put on walls in Kinmen, Taiwan, and Xiamen, Fujian province, in early December.

The works, created by the winners of the third graffiti contest of the 2021 Straits Forum, showcase the creative and aesthetic skills of artists from the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.

The winning pictures, selected from about 100 candidates, reflected the contest's theme — "Linking the Straits and co-painting the homeland". The event aims to boost recognition and understanding of traditional Chinese culture among young people, organizers said.

One of the five paintings, titled Roots-Seeking Journey, blends image of a ribbon into sea waves, suggesting the unbreakable links between compatriots on both sides. The Chinese patron goddess Matsu stands on the right.
