Another painting depicts a male tourist holding a cell phone from which typical elements of Fujian and Taiwan are pouring out — ships, dolphins, the twin towers of Xiamen, the Juguang Tower and a symbol of Kinmen.

Wang Xinlun, honorary president of the Xiamen Artists Association, said the five works of art are of good quality and show their creators' deep thinking about traditional culture.

Lin Qing, a professor at the Xiamen Academy of Arts and Design at Fuzhou University, said the most impressive artwork for her is the one titled Containers, which uses bright yellow, blue and red to show a busy harbor. It depicts cross-Straits trade, she said.

Lin noted that the works are diverse and show both traditional culture and modern life.
