Hydrogen production for rail use localized

China has achieved localized hydrogen production for rail use, with the first China-developed hydrogen fuel cell hybrid locomotive starting a trial run on Friday on a railway line for coal transport in North China's Inner Mongolia autonomous region. The hydrogen energy locomotive project was jointly launched by the Inner Mongolia subsidiary of State Power Investment Corp Ltd, CRRC Datong Co Ltd and Hydrogen Energy Co Ltd of SPIC.

Shenzhen sees robust foreign trade growth

The southern Chinese metropolis of Shenzhen saw its foreign trade grow 15.2 percent year-on-year to 2.51 trillion yuan ($393 billion) in the first three quarters, local Customs said. During the January-September period, exports rose 13.5 percent year-on-year to 1.35 trillion yuan while imports jumped 17.2 percent to 1.16 trillion yuan, said Shenzhen Customs. The top 10 trading partners of the manufacturing hub, which borders Hong Kong, contributed to 77.3 percent of total trade, with trade with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union seeing double-digit growth. Privately owned businesses contributed 1.54 trillion yuan in trade, up 17 percent year-on-year and accounting for over 61 percent of total trade, local Customs said. The proportion rose by 1 percentage point from a year ago.

Logistics demand maintains expansion

China's logistics demand maintained relatively rapid growth in the first three quarters of 2021, despite the sporadic resurgence of COVID-19 cases, extreme weather conditions and power cuts, according to the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing. In the first three quarters of the year, the total value of goods in the logistics sector was 234.5 trillion yuan ($36.69 trillion), rising 11.4 percent year-on-year. The growth was 9.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year, CFLP data showed. Logistics demand has generally maintained a recovery momentum since the beginning of the year, with its scale and growth rate higher than the same period before the pandemic.
