Nation's innovation gauge up in 2020
The China Innovation Index, the barometer of the country's innovation capability, continued to climb in 2020, official data showed. The index, introduced in 2005, increased by 6.4 percent from the 2019 level to 242.6 last year, according to National Bureau of Statistics data. The index, which comprises four sub indexes, measures the innovation environment, input, output and effects. Up to 19 out of the 21 indicators in the four categories witnessed increases compared with a year ago, NBS data showed. Six indicators, such as the number of brands owned by enterprises and the trade volume of the technology market, reported double-digit growth.
Yili net profit rises nearly 32% in Jan-Sept
Chinese dairy giant Inner Mongolia Yili Industrial Group Co Ltd posted a 31.82 percent year-on-year net profit growth for the first three quarters of 2021. The firm's net profit reached 7.97 billion yuan ($1.25 billion) in the nine months, outstripping last year's total, Yili said in its latest quarterly financial report. The dairy giant generated revenue of 85 billion yuan during the period, an annual increase of 15.23 percent.
