CATL licenses tech to Hyundai affiliate
Contemporary Amperex Technology Co Ltd, China's largest automotive lithium-ion battery maker, signed a technology licensing and partnership agreement with Hyundai Mobis Co Ltd, a unit of Hyundai Motor, on Wednesday, granting its CTP (cell to pack) technology to the auto parts supplier from the Republic of Korea. CATL will also support Hyundai Mobis in the supply of CTP-related battery products in the ROK and globally, according to the agreement. By directly integrating cells into packs without modules, CTP technology improves system energy density, simplifies manufacturing and helps reduce costs.
Exports and imports surge in Shanxi
North China's Shanxi province saw robust growth in foreign trade in the first three quarters, said Taiyuan Customs. The total import and export value hit 170.3 billion yuan ($26.7 billion) from January to September, up 76.8 percent year-on-year. Exports soared to 104.5 billion yuan, registering an 87.8-percent increase over the same period last year, while imports totaled 65.8 billion yuan, up 61.9 percent. The province's private enterprises posted rapid growth in imports and exports during the period, with the figure growing 161.2 percent to 55.6 billion yuan.
