China has filed an application to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership, the Ministry of Commerce said on Thursday. Commerce Minister Wang Wentao submitted the application to New Zealand Trade Minister Damien O'Connor. New Zealand is the official depository for CPTPP parties. The two ministers also had a phone conversation about follow-up work on China's formal application. The regional trade pact was signed in 2018 by 11 nations.
