The first batch of the Shandong Peninsula South 4 offshore wind power units were connected to the grid and started power generation on Sunday, making it the first commercial-scale offshore wind project in the coastal province.

The project, comprising 58 wind turbines, plans to achieve full-capacity grid-connected power generation by the end of this year. It will by then come up with 820 million kilowatt hours of clean power that will meet the demand of more than 300,000 households for one year.

This project, with a total installed capacity of more than 300 MW, is the first batch of offshore wind power demonstration projects in East China's Shandong province.

It will reduce the consumption of 253,000 tons of standard coal and carbon dioxide emission reduction of 556,000 tons, as China promotes greener development and pledges to hit peak emissions before 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
