China releases new list of wild plants for priority protection

It is the first major upgrade since the list was published in 1999. Compared with the previous version, 268 new species were added. Of them, many belong to the orchid family.

A combined 35 plants were removed from the old list, mainly because of China's effective conservation over the past decades.
