Huawei awards Ethiopia ICT competition winners

ADDIS ABABA - Chinese telecom giant Huawei on Thursday awarded winners of Huawei ICT Competition Ethiopia 2021, the third national information and communication technologies (ICT) competition of Huawei Ethiopia.

Themed "Connection, Glory, Future," the competition has attracted more than 1,000 participants from all over the country.

The competition was officially launched in May as part of the 6th Global ICT Competition, and also in view of Huawei's strategy to develop Ethiopia's ICT talents and innovation ecosystem.

Huawei Ethiopia CEO Chen Mingliang said that the competition showcased the company's commitment to cultivating the ICT talent ecosystem in Ethiopia.

"The competition is a unique opportunity for students to test their abilities in these cutting-edge fields, and helps colleges and universities to better understand the talent requirements of today's top businesses and government leaders," Chen said.

The final competition was held among 20 top performers and six outstanding groups from seven universities.

The winners will be provided the chance to take part in the Regional Final and Global Final 2022 as Ethiopia's national team.
