The 2021 Euro-Asia Economic Forum will be held Oct 18 to 20 in Xi'an, Northwest China's Shaanxi province, the organizing committee said during a press conference held in Beijing on Wednesday.

Themed on seizing new opportunities for cooperation and embarking on a new journey of development, the forum aims to step up policy coordination using new opportunities for coordinated regional development and economic recovery to further unleash the potential of regional cooperation, and promote solid and deeper Euro-Asia cooperation, said Li Mingyuan, mayor of Xi'an.

The committee said an import and export commodity exhibition also will be held to push forward and present the economic and trade results of the forum.

Members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, national politicians from countries and regions participating in the Belt and Road Initiative, company officials from multinational corporations and scholars will be invited to the forum, according to the committee.

This will be the ninth Euro-Asia Economic Forum since it was successfully held in 2005.

Taking advantage of the forum's platform, we expect deepened cooperation between Xi'an and countries and regions participating the Belt and Road Initiative while pushing forward interconnected economic development and tolerant growth in countries in Europe and Asia, Li said.
