NEW APPOINTMENT
Ivan Seet has been appointed general manager of BEI Zhaolong Hotel, the first JdV by Hyatt hotel in Asia. As a professional hotelier with an international perspective, he has more than 15 years of hospitality experience, which includes working at Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts, Banyan Tree, Hilton and Marriott International.
CHEF MONTH
At Hilton Shenyang in Liaoning province, the hotel's culinary team is using quality ingredients to deliver signature local dishes and showcase its members' creativity during the Chinese Chef Month throughout August.
During the ongoing Chinese Chef Month at Hilton Xi'an in Shaanxi province, Owen Zhang, head chef of the hotel's Chinese restaurant, is using select fresh local produce to present traditional Shaanxi cuisine with an innovative touch. Dishes include abalones that are prepared in Xifeng liquor, and mandarin fish boiled in mountain spring water with wild edible fungi.
FESTIVAL OFFERINGS
To celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival, which will fall on Sept 21, Wanda Reign Wuhan in Hubei province has launched four types of mooncake gift boxes. They feature classical design and innovative flavors. With prices beginning at 398 yuan ($60), the mooncake gift boxes will be able to be ordered starting from Sept 1.
In preparation for Mid-Autumn Festival in September, Shangri-La Chengdu in Sichuan province is offering a series of mooncake gift boxes. Some packages are luring customers with their giant panda-themed bags or suitcase and some have been jointly designed with artists. In addition to classical mooncake flavors, the series offers new ones such as spicy beef, corn and oats.
