Huawei's net profit margin in H1 at 9.8%

Huawei Technologies Co said on Friday that it generated 320.4 billion yuan ($49.6 billion) in revenue in the first half of this year, with its net profit margin reaching 9.8 percent. The Chinese tech giant said its overall performance was in line with forecast. Specifically, its carrier business group recorded 136.9 billion yuan in revenue, the revenue for its enterprise business was 42.9 billion yuan, and the revenue for its consumer business was 135.7 billion yuan.

Adidas' China sales increase in first half

Sales of Adidas in China grew 36.9 percent year-on-year and reached 2.4 billion euros ($2.84 billion) in the first half of this year, the German sportswear manufacturer said. In the second quarter, sales in China declined 16.3 percent to 1.0 billion euros, but Adidas still recorded a "steady business recovery as well as sequential sell-out improvements" in the country, the company noted. "With sports taking back center stage this summer, we delivered a very successful quarter," said Adidas CEO Kasper Rorsted. The company saw an acceleration in its top- and bottom-line due to high demand, he added.

Chongqing to see record auto imports

Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality is expected to see record whole auto imports this year, as the city has become a major port of entry for imported whole vehicles, the municipal commission of commerce said. Chongqing has seen remarkable growth in whole auto imports in recent years. In 2018, the city imported 2,145 whole vehicles. In 2019 and 2020, the number totaled 6,143 and 7,795, respectively. From January to July this year, Chongqing imported 4,501 whole vehicles. The full-year number is expected to exceed 8,000, the commission said.
