Xi applauds role played by non-CPC personages

Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, on Wednesday presided over and addressed a symposium for soliciting opinions and suggestions on the current economic situation and economic work in the second half of the year from non-CPC personages.
Xi said that he hoped non-CPC personages could develop a correct understanding of the current economic situation, focus on the key issues in social and economic development and offer forward-looking proposals based on their advantages and investigations.
Xi called on non-CPC personages to carry forward the good tradition of working closely with the CPC through thick and thin as the older generations have done, in order to pool the greatest strength for pushing forward economic growth.
Leaders of the eight non-Communist parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce, as well as representatives of personages without party affiliation, attended the symposium and made speeches.
They agreed with the CPC Central Committee's analysis of the economic situation and plans for economic work, and spoke highly of the huge achievements the country has made in COVID-19 prevention and economic and social development under the strong leadership of the CPC.
Xi appreciated their contributions to the CPC Central Committee's policymaking, as they had accomplished a series of high-quality research projects regarding tasks of the Party and the State, such as boosting the nation's strategic strength in science and technology, and fostering the new development paradigm.
The well-targeted and constructive suggestions they have made will be seriously considered by the CPC Central Committee, Xi said.
He also hoped non-CPC personages will strengthen the ideological guidance of their respective members and people they have contact with by utilizing the ongoing CPC history-learning campaign in order to better reveal the distinctive characteristics and strengths of China's political party system.
