Legoland Discovery Center Beijing in conjunction with the Friends of Nature NGO organized on June 1 activities to introduce biodiversity to children.

The event celebrated the International Children's Day and also to pay tribute to the 15th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity to be hosted in Yunnan province.

Legoland Discovery Center Beijing invited 22 children who were guided by staff members through the miniature Beijing made from over 510,000 Lego bricks and introduced to them the iconic local flora and fauna.

Legoland unveiled a mosaic made by 28,224 Lego bricks, which highlighted the endangered green peafowls and their natural habitat, along with several other protected species and people who work to protect wildlife.

The activities also included a Lego building competition themed on animals and the five winners selected will participate in the creation of the mosaic.

Prior to the International Children's Day event, the two organizations have hosted over the past two months a series of events, including exhibitions, lectures and workshops with Lego master builders, that educated children on biodiversity.
