Real Madrid winger Vazquez agrees new 3-year contract

MADRID - Real Madrid midfielder, Lucas Vazquez has agreed a new contract with the club until the end of June 2024.
The agreement comes when it had looked as if negotiations between the club and the 29-year-old, who can play either on the wing or on the right side of the defense, had broken down allowing him to leave on a free transfer at the end of June.
Vazquez follows midfielder Luka Modric in agreeing a new contract, after Modric signed a one-year extension to the end of June 2022 a week ago, leaving just Sergio Ramos to agree (or not) a new deal before the end of the month.
Vazquez progressed thought the Real Madrid youth system before spending a successful campaign on loan at Espanyol and returning to the club in 2015, making 240 appearances in all competitions.
He has played mainly in a wide midfield role, but Dani Carvajal's physical problems this season saw him converted into an attacking full back and he fulfilled the role effectively until his season was ended by a knee injury while playing against FC Barcelona in early April.
Meanwhile Real Madrid's search for a replacement for Zinedine Zidane as first team coach continues with Everton boss, Carlo Ancelotti now favorite to return for a second spell in charge.
The Spanish sporting press reports that the 61-year-old Italian has asked to leave Everton in order to go back to the club he coached between 2013 and 2015, winning the Copa del Rey and the Champions League in his first season in charge.
