More quake-relief materials for Qinghai
Authorities have allocated more relief materials to northwestern China's Qinghai province after it was struck by a 7.4 magnitude earthquake early on Saturday. The Ministry of Emergency Management and the National Food and Strategic Reserves Administration have sent materials including 3,000 tents, 10,000 cotton-padded overcoats, 5,000 quilts, 10,000 folding beds, 1,000 heating devices and 200 makeshift toilets, the ministry said Thursday. The earthquake, which jolted Madoi county in Golog Tibetan autonomous prefecture at 2:04 am Saturday, left 18 people injured and disrupted the lives of over 32,000 residents of 26 townships in Golog and Yushu Tibetan autonomous prefecture.
Encyclopedic Chinese dictionary put online
An official online version of the Cihai, a large dictionary and encyclopedia of the Chinese language, was released on Thursday. The online version, designed for laptops and smartphones, offers built-in access from the WeChat and Xuexi Qiangguo apps. It is based on the seventh and newest print edition of the dictionary and contains about 130,000 entries. Some entries are enriched by pictures, audio, and even videos. First published in 1936, the Cihai is a milestone in China's history of publication and lexicography.

Sister city plans for Hubei, Uruguay
Two cities in Central China's Hubei province are seeking to establish sister-city ties with cities in Uruguay, the provincial foreign affairs office said on Thursday. Yichang and Wuhan, the provincial capital, submitted letters of intent on Wednesday to establish friendly relations with Rivera and Salto respectively. The province's Uruguay Week was launched in Wuhan on May 24. Building friendly relations will help Hubei better understand South America and facilitate more business activities between cities in the future, Fernando Lugris, Uruguay's ambassador to China, said during the festivities.
