Suzhou New District promotion conference held in Shanghai

The Suzhou New District (SND) government held a promotional investment conference at the Shanghai Pudong Shangri-La Hotel on May 26 with the aim of attracting investment.

Ninety-two projects worth 53.6 billion yuan ($8.39 billion) were officially signed at the conference. The projects are related to fields such as digital commerce, cultural tourism, industrial upgrading, urban renewal, education, and health industries.

At the conference, Tencent released a report detailing their cooperation with Suzhou Embroidery Town in the SND.

Suzhou is a major city situated at the intersection of the Yangtze River Economic Belt and the Coastal Economic Belt. Suzhou New District is one of the first national high-tech industrial development zones in China.

Fang Wenbing, secretary of the Party working committee of Suzhou New District Zon, said: "Over 30 years, SND has achieved an average annual growth rate of 40 percent for itsGDP and 26 percent for its fiscal revenue.

"SND will continue to follow the national strategy for the integration of the Yangtze River Delta and integrate itself with Shanghai."
