Border police in Heilongjiang adopt a grandma

"To express my gratitude, I sometimes cooked food for the officers, such as dumplings," Yu said. "A young officer named Xue Lihui told me he got the taste of his hometown and he asked whether he could call me grandma."

Yu agreed happily. To her surprise, all the officers began to call her grandma. Over the following two decades, as groups of new police officers rotated in, Yu became grandma to a total of 160.
