No.17 Neverland, by Sun Yao. [Photo provided to chinadaily.com.cn]

The word "Neverland" comes from James Matthew Barrie's novel Peter Pan, which depicted a world of dreams where one can stay a child forever.

Sun Yao uses the image of an "island" as a response to Nietzsche's "Eternal Return" with his paintings. Everyone possesses a strong will to live. In this sense, everyone is an "island of eternity".
