Online events set for CPC's centennial
The Cyberspace Administration of China, the country's top internet regulator, and the websites of some major State news groups kicked off a series of online activities on Tuesday to mark the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China. The main venue of the launch ceremony was in Beijing. Participants in six other venues-Jiaxing, Zhejiang province; Shenzhen, Guangdong province; Wuhan, Hubei province; Yan'an, Shaanxi province; Bijie, Guizhou province; and Qiqihar, Heilongjiang province-also shared their ideas on the activities via video links on Tuesday. The activities, aiming to showcasing the CPC's achievements in a range of fields in the past 100 years and how people's lives have been improved, will last until the end of this year. The activities will include series of reports to mark the CPC's centenary and the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) as well as the start of the journey toward building a modern socialist country.

5.8-magnitude quake hits county in Tibet
A 5.8 magnitude earthquake jolted Shuanghu county in Nagchu, Tibet autonomous region, at 1:27 am on Tuesday, the China Earthquake Networks Center said. There have been no reports of casualties and the county government has asked villages to check for damage, said Zhou Shifu, head of the county's publicity department. The tremor was barely felt in the county seat, and the epicenter was located in an uninhabited, high-altitude area, he said.
