Raw coal output rises in first two months

Raw coal output rose 25 percent on a yearly basis to 620 million metric tons during the first two months of this year, official data showed. The January-February figure represents a 17.1-percent growth compared with the level in the same period of 2019, as well as annual average growth of 8.2 percent over the past two years, according to the National Bureau of Statistics. The country imported 41.13 million tons of coal in the first two months, down 39.5 percent on a yearly basis, NBS data showed.

Building materials segment sees growth

China's building materials sector saw visible growth in the first two months of this year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The sector's value-added output gained 45.7 percent year-on-year during the January-February period, reversing the previous downward trend, the MIIT said. The reading was 10.6 percentage points higher than the average industrial output growth of designated large enterprises with an annual business turnover of at least 20 million yuan ($3.08 million).

Shanghai Fashion Week to start soon

The 2021 Autumn/Winter Shanghai Fashion Week will start on April 6 and inject more energy into the consumer market, the Shanghai municipal commission of commerce said. Shanghai recorded 48.6 percent year-on-year growth in retail sales in the first two months of this year, higher than the country's average during the same period, said the commission.

Kuaishou issues copyright standards

Kuaishou, a leading short-video platform in China, has announced its copyright clearance standards for music used on the platform's livestreaming. It has separate clearance channels for composers, lyricists, and newly added independent musicians. It is the first time that China's online platforms have created music copyright settlement standards for short videos and livestreaming.
