The Chinese Foreign Ministry said that the articles published by The Grayzone, an independent news website from the United States, proved that the US government's claim that "the Chinese government is committing genocide against ethnic minorities in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region" is an outright lie. These reports from the US media also show that facts speak louder than words and that justice is essentially in the eye of the beholder.

The reports released by The Grayzone pointed out the misuse of data, misrepresentation of facts, fabrication of cases, and logical inconsistencies in a so-called investigation report, revealing the true nature of the report's author Adrian Zenz (who calls himself Zheng Guoen in Chinese), said Wang Wenbin, spokesperson for China's Foreign Ministry, at a press conference on February 22.

"Zenz and some international anti-China forces have concocted rumors and lies about Xinjiang for their personally driven ulterior motives, seeking to use fake news to gain attention and sullying China's reputation in the process. However, no matter how sophisticated their deceptions are, they are no match for plain reality. One day, Zenz and others will have to face justice for their unscrupulous disinformation and slander," Wang said.

For a long time, while ignoring China's accomplishments in the field of human rights, some organizations and individuals have consistently released reports smearing China and fabricating stories on Xinjiang under the guise of protecting "human rights" and freedom.

However, according to official statistics, the overall population in Xinjiang continued to grow steadily from 2010 to 2018. Experts pointed out that Xinjiang's population growth best answers Western smear campaigns on Uygurs, and in the recent face of the COVID-19 epidemic in Xinjiang, the government has, as always, placed humanity as its top priority.

Wang noted that the Chinese government attaches great importance to the protection of human rights, adhering to the people-centered concept of human rights, and has successfully established a human rights development path that is in line with China's national state, which has also made remarkable achievements.

"In the recent past, an increasing number of knowledgeable people have learned about the situation in Xinjiang and have understood the Chinese government's policies, who have also taken the initiative to speak up. China hopes that more foreign media will report on Xinjiang through an objective lens. We also hope that the international community can recognize the attempts of these forces and will not be misled by rumors," Wang added.
