Deadly assault near US base fuels fears
At least three rockets struck late on Monday outside an airport near where US forces are based in northern Iraq, killing one US-led coalition contractor and wounding at least eight other people, Iraqi security and coalition officials said. The attack sparked fears of new hostilities. It was the first time Western military or diplomatic installations have been targeted in Iraq in nearly two months. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the US is "outraged" by the attack and called for an investigation.

According to an epidemiological report by the country's health agency dated on Monday, five people have now succumbed to the virus, rising from a death toll of four reported earlier on Monday.
