Mobile sci-tech museums see 139 million visits
BEIJING-China's mobile sci-tech museums recorded a total of 139 million visits across the country as of the end of 2020, according to the China Association for Science and Technology on Jan 28.
The mobile museum project was launched to enhance Chinese people's science literacy, according to the association.
Through the mobile museums, China provides free sci-tech education and entertainment to more people, especially those living in areas with no such museums or resources.
Since the project was launched in 2011, the association has developed 560 sets of popular scientific exhibitions and sent them to 4,142 stops during exhibition tours across the country.
Each mobile museum exhibition includes about 60 interactive exhibits and runs for two to three months at every stop. These interactive exhibits are designed to generate interest in learning science and scientific exploration.
Over the past decade, the mobile sci-tech museums reached nearly all county-level regions in the country, according to the China Association for Science and Technology.
