Imported cherries test positive for COVID
A box of imported cherries in Wuxi, Jiangsu province tested positive for COVID-19 on Thursday, the CDC of the city's Liangxi district announced on Friday. The same batch of tested cherries had been delivered to Liangxi, Huishan and Binhu districts. A total of 199 samples had been collected from the three districts, and all tested negative. The headquarters of virus prevention at Liangxi district has launched epidemiological investigation, quarantine of close contacts and more nucleic acid sampling.
BEIJING
Former Xinjiang official charged with bribery
Ren Hua, former deputy chairwoman of the government of Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, was charged with bribery by prosecutors in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, the Supreme People's Procuratorate said on Friday. The case has been taken to the Suzhou Intermediate People's Court after the SPP asked Suzhou prosecutors to investigate and review the allegations. The Suzhou prosecutors said that Ren made use of her various positions to accept extremely large amounts of bribes. Ren, 56, was placed under investigation for alleged serious violations of discipline and laws in June 2020.
