Tianjin museum celebrates machine tools

Wang opened the museum in 2015 in Dongli district with two sites, one at the Tsinghua High-end Equipment Manufacturing Technological Park in Huaming county and one near Tianjin Binhai International Airport.
The museum is free. Since its opening, it has received more than 100,000 visits.
Zheng Baojiang, a researcher and a guide at the museum, said: "Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, students have a lot of fun at the museum. Sometimes, they spent a whole day there."
Every three months, the museum undertakes a maintenance project for its collection, he said.
The earliest records of Chinese and European history show the use of machine tools as early as the 15th century. In one of the earliest Chinese scientific research books, the Tian Gong Kai Wu (Heavenly Creations)from 1637, the earliest machine tool in China was recorded.
