China's Tianjin sees trade growth with B&R countries

TIANJIN  -- The northern China port city of Tianjin witnessed a 3.9 percent year-on-year growth in trade with the Belt and Road (B&R) countries in the first three quarters of the year, local customs said.

The trade volume between Tianjin and B&R countries reached 137.4 billion yuan ($20.4 billion) in the Jan-Sept period, accounting for 25.2 percent of the city's total foreign trade, according to Tianjin Customs.

The city's total foreign trade came in at 545.38 billion yuan, up 1.3 percent year-on-year.

Of the total volume, general trade stood at 311.66 billion yuan, up 14.5 percent.

The European Union remained its largest trade partner during the period, with volumes of imports and exports surpassing 103.2 billion yuan.

Mechanical and electrical products topped the list of export commodities in Tianjin from January to September, with export volume rising 2.2 percent year-on-year to 148.86 billion yuan.
