Courier sector to handle over 75b parcels
China's courier sector is expected to handle more than 75 billion parcels this year, the State Post Bureau said. The country's express delivery firms have handled 50 billion parcels as of Thursday, or about 200 million packages daily on average, the bureau said. Due to COVID-19, the sector saw dampened business in January but resumed growth in February. In the second quarter, along with work resumption, the growth rate of the sector hit more than 30 percent.
Top private companies see growth in 2019
The latest rankings for China's 500 largest private enterprises came out Thursday, with the companies registering overall growth in 2019. The list was issued by the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce at the China Top 500 Private Enterprises Summit 2020 held in Beijing. The threshold for the 500 largest private enterprises stood at 20.2 billion yuan ($2.96 billion) in revenue, up by 1.62 billion yuan from 2018. The thresholds for the top 500 private enterprises in the manufacturing sector and the top 100 private enterprises in the services sector both increased in 2019.
BOC unit teams up with Malaysian chamber
Bank of China Malaysia has signed an agreement with the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia for cooperation on the 3rd China International Import Expo to be held in Shanghai in November. According to the agreement, the BOC unit will work with the ACCCIM, through the CIIE Trade and Investment Business Matching Platform hosted by Bank of China. Both online and offline methods will provide Malaysian enterprises with cross-border investment and trade-matching services.
