Chinese shares close lower Wednesday

BEIJING - Chinese stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.24 percent, at 3,408.13 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 2.09 percent lower at 13,480.85 points.

The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 3.27 percent to close at 2,612.84 points Wednesday.
