QINGDAO, China -- Liu Chuanxing collected a double-double with 16 points and 19 rebounds, helping the Qingdao Eagles beat the Jilin Northeast Tigers 99-80 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Monday, reaping their second straight victory and locking them in the eighth place after the regular season.
"We played more smoothly in the second half. I hope my players are ready for the playoffs," said Wu Qinglong, coach of Qingdao.
Zhao Tailong's three-pointer gave Qingdao a 29-26 lead into the second quarter. Zhang Biao's jumper helped Jilin come from behind to take a 54-52 lead before the halftime.
But Jilin suddenly misfired in the second half, only scoring 26 points during the span to concede the loss.
Jilin coach Wang Han thought his team's shooting accuracy was questionable in the second half.
"With 13 points each in the third and fourth quarter, it was impossible to get the win with such kind of offense," he said.
Yang Jinmeng scored a game-high 26 points for Qingdao. Zhao added 12 points.
Five players for Jilin scored in double digits. Jiang Weize took a team-high 17 points. Cui Jinming contributed 16 points. Zhang and Sean Hill notched 14 points apiece.
Qingdao will fight against the Shandong Heroes in round of 12 in the playoffs, while 10th-placed Jilin takes on the Beijing Royal Fighters.
