Royal Fighters beat Guangzhou for 3rd straight CBA win

QINGDAO, China -- The Beijing Royal Fighters defeated the Guangzhou Loong Lions 106-102 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) here on Thursday to win their third game on the trot.

After Marcus Hunt's dunk, Guangzhou cut the deficit to two points before the first quarter ended.

Kyle Fogg and Wang Shaojie combined for 15 points in the second quarter and helped the Royal Fighters grab a 60-56 lead.

Arnett Moultrie shone in the following quarter with 10 points and five rebounds, leading Beijing to a 16-point advantage. Captain Zong Zan also contributed seven points.

Guangzhou launched an 8-0 run and narrowed the gap to four points in the last quarter, but there was little time left for them to turn the tables.

Fogg scored a team-high 29 points and had six rebounds for Beijing, while Moultrie collected 27 points, and Wang Shaojie and Chen Jinlong contributed 12 points apiece.

Hunt got a game-high 37 points for Guangzhou. Guo Kai finished with 16 points, and Si Kun added 11 points.

"Tonight we had the best game. Our domestic players stepped up and this is what we need for our team," said Beijing coach Stephon Marbury.

"Our rebounds and free throws were not good enough. This is an experience for our players, and I believe they will learn something from it," rued Ding Wei, coach of Guangzhou.
