Zhejiang Lions snaps Liaoning's two-game winning streak in CBA
QINGDAO, China - Zhejiang Lions beat Liaoning Flying Leopards 125-110 here on Thursday in the 2019-20 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league, ending Liaoning's two-game winning streak.
As Liaoning gave away possession too easily, Zhejiang hit them with both fast breaks and three-pointers, ended the first quarter at 36-23 and enlarged the lead to 14 through Liu Zheng with a pair of two three-pointers in the early second quarter.
After Liaoning cut the deficit to nine points, Zhejiang managed to lead 64-55 into the second half, continued to fire up at the offensive end in the third quarter for a 19-point lead into the last period, and sealed the victory when Zhao Yanhao hit his two free-throws.
"Our team was very devoted to this game, hoping that our team can continue to maintain its state," said Li Chunjiang, head coach of Zhejiang Lions.
Sun Minghui scored 34 points, seven rebounds and 10 assists for Zhejiang. Hu Jinqiu collected 23 points and 13 rebounds, while Liu Zheng contributed 26 points and eight rebounds.
O. J. Mayo had a game-high 37 points for Liaoning, Guo Ailun contributed 22 points and five assists, and He Tianju had 19 points.
"Congratulations to Zhejiang Lions for winning the game, Zhejiang Lions played better today," said Alejandro Martinez, head coach of Liaoning.
Liaoning will next face Jiangsu Dragons, while Zhejiang Lions take on Zhejiang Golden Bulls.
