Beach volleyball, canoe sprint, sport climbing and table tennis join Munich 2022 European Championships program

BERLIN -- Beach volleyball, canoe sprint, sport climbing and table tennis have been added to the sports program for the 2022 European Championships in Munich, organizers announced on Thursday.

The four sports will now join athletics, cycling, gymnastics, rowing, and triathlon on the event's program, which is scheduled to take place in the Bavarian city on Aug 11-21, 2022.

According to FIVB, beach volleyball will feature 32 teams per gender, thus accounting for 128 male and female athletes competing in two medal events.

The multi-sport European Championships is an 11-day sports tournament, while Munich 2022 is the second edition following the success of the inaugural European Championships in 2018.
