An online livestream e-commerce festival featuring more than 1,000 Guangzhou-made products, will be held via livestream from June 6 to 8, the local commerce authority said.

The festival, promoting products ranging from hotels and catering services to manufacturing, tourism, education, wholesaling and retail trade, will help boost domestic consumption demand, said Wei Min, deputy director of the commerce bureau in Guangzhou.

Several deputies to the National People's Congress, including China's four-time Olympic table tennis champion Deng Yaping, and Marcello Lippi, who led Italy to win the 2006 World Cup, will be honored as ambassadors of the festival.

The festival will be held online on a number of leading livestream platforms including Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, the short-video sharing platform Kuaishou and others, Wei said.

"The festival will help local companies resume production and business operation amid the COVID-19 pandemic."
