According to a recent survey conducted by Beijing Normal University, of 248 physical bookstores that received the survey in Beijing, more than 56 percentare closed without any clear schedule for resumption.

Around 48 percent of those bookstores said their cash flow can sustain them for one to three months, while 27 percent said they cannot hold out for more than one month, given the current cash flow. About 17 percent of the bookstores can hold on for three to six months and only 6.5 percent of the bookstores can sustain themselves for more than half a year.

The survey suggests that about half of the bookstores will be shut down for lack of capital if they cannot get financial support for three months.
