Ren Wenchuan, deputy director of the pediatric department of the Second Xiangya Hospital of Central South University in Hunan province:

I never had the chance to see Wuhan, since I had only been commuting back and forth from where I lived to the hospital for the past 43 days.

I can feel the connection between me and the city. In a way, its fate depends on me.

After hearing the news for the first time that our mission was completed here and we could go home, I relaxed enough to notice that flowers on the streets had started to blossom and winter was gone. I still can't get the faces of the patients and my colleagues out of my head. My heart is still with Wuhan people.

Tan Honglin, a nurse at the Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou Medical University: It's my first time in Wuhan. It's a pity that I couldn't visit the landmarks of the city and taste the famous Wuhan spicy noodles.

What I regret the most is that I couldn't see the faces of the Wuhan people, who moved me all the time, and they couldn't see mine, either, since we all need to wear face masks.

I want to come back to the city after the epidemic is over. I will have a good laugh with the patients I helped, while we eat spicy noodles. We will surely remember each other.

Cui Yaqing, a member of the national emergency medical team from Shaanxi province:

I've accomplished the mission and can go home now. Wuhan has undergone a really tough time, but we've made it. The people here are heroic.

Zhang Kunhui, head of the critical care department's second division of the Third People's Hospital in Jinan, Shandong province:

I've been keeping my parents from visiting my social media account during my time in Wuhan so they wouldn't be worried about me. Now I can let them know that I am sorry for leaving home without saying goodbye. My work here is done, and I am coming home. I want to share my joy with them.

Wang Daoming, a doctor at the Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital of Pengshan district in Meishan, Sichuan province:

I hope I can come back to Wuhan next year to see the cherry blossoms, which have been a key attraction of the city, and go for a stroll along the Yangtze River. I bet the city will be more beautiful then. But now, I really want to return to my family because I joined the medical team in the early hours of Feb 9 when I was on duty. I had no time to go home before I left. My 6-year-old said she has many questions for me. I've promised to take her out to feel the spring breeze.
