Global stock markets and oil prices plunged on Monday. The main stock indexes in London, Frankfurt and on Wall Street in New York fell about 7 percent, triggering an automatic trade halt for 15 minutes on the US exchange. Trading later resumed and prices had slightly stabilized as of press time. Global oil prices suffered their worst losses since the 1991 Gulf War after OPEC nations and Russia could not agree last week on production cuts.
