Dow plunges 900 points at open

US stocks opened sharply lower on Monday. All three major indexes plunged more than 3 percent shortly after the opening bell, with the Dow shedding more 979 points, or 3.4 percent. The S&P 500 and the Nasdaq declined 3.2 percent and 4 percent respectively.
