Colombian winger Gonzalez joins Corinthians

RIO DE JANEIRO - Colombian winger Yony Gonzalez has joined Brazilian Serie A giants Corinthians, less than a month after signing a long-term contract with Portugal's Benfica.
The 25-year-old will be tied to Corinthians until December 2023, the Sao Paulo club said in a statement, without providing financial details of the operation.
Gonzalez agreed to a four-and-a-half year deal with Benfica last month after a 12-month spell with Rio de Janeiro outfit Fluminense in which he scored 17 times in 62 matches.
Corinthians have already reinforced their attack over the pre-season by signing Brazil international forward Luan Vieira from Gremio.
The seven-time Brazilian Serie A champions finished eighth in the 2019 top flight standings and they are currently participating in the Copa Libertadores qualifiers for a place in the competition's group stage.
