Dongguan trounces Wuhan, Beijing tops WCBA table

BEIJING -- Aerial Powers recorded a game-high 22 points and 13 rebounds, helping reigning champion Dongguan win over Wuhan 84-50 in the 18th round of the 2019-2020 season of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) on Thursday.
With the victory, Dongguan tied with Beijing on 35 points, but trailed on the second place of the WCBA table for face-to-face record against the four-time league winner.
The Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) just started the second half of the 2019-20 regulars as the new year commenced.
Dongguan led all the way with 62 rebounds while Wuhan posted only 23. Li Yueru of Dongguan registered another double-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds.
With a 32-of-70 shots, Dongguan turned their 7-point halftime lead into an 63-42 advantage heading into the final period. However, Wuhan only netted 8 points till the end.
Beijing sat atop the table with its tenth consecutive victory by beating Shandong 90-72.
Beijing led the host Shandong by 21-15 at the end of first quarter. With more assists, Beijing rallied a 11-0 run in the third period, which gave them a 26-point lead before Shandong tried to win back the last quarter.
Teaira McCowan led Beijing players with 26 points and 12 rebounds. Gao Song and Shao Ting contributed 21 and 15 respectively.
Elsewhere on Thursday, Xinjiang saw off Daqing 106-80. Hebei beat Sichuan 80-77. Inner Mongolia outscored Shaanxi 101-81. Shanxi defeated Tianjin 107-93. Bayi beat Zhejiang 86-68. Jiangsu edged Shanghai 86-60.
At the other end of the table, Henan is still desperate for their first win after 18 consecutive losses, as Fujian beat Henan 91-75.
