Jiangsu beat Guangzhou, Shandong upset Liaoning
BEIJING - Jonathan Gibson grabbed 38 points and 13 rebounds as Jiangsu Dragons saw off Guangzhou Loong Lions 110-99 in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) on Thursday.
Though Andrew Nicholson of Guangzhou posted a game-high 40 points and 14 rebounds, the visiting team could not keep out the chill of the winter in the city of Suzhou, east China's Jiangsu province, where they swallowed their seventh straight loss.
The game turned into a rout as Jiangsu stormed an 11-1 burst in the third quarter before Jiangsu took the lead on 63-51 at the break. Guangzhou did everything to rally but could not shave off the deficit.
Lester Hudson had a game-high 41 points and seven assists as Shandong overwhelmed Liaoning 114-94.
Tao Hanlin scored 11 points to help Shandong lead the first quarter by two points. Liaoning chased the game after Brandon Bass hit a pair of free throws.
Six players of Shandong posted double-digit points. Lance Stephenson recorded 18 points and nine rebounds.
Shandong opened the second half in a vigorous way and led by 78-60 before the last quarter, and never looked back.
In other games, Sichuan beat Zhejiang Lions 116-112, Qingdao defeated Beijing Royal Fighters 121-109, Xinjiang rolled past Nanjing 107-98.
