Dongguan, Shanxi keep unbeaten records

BEIJING -- Defending champion Dongguan smashed Daqing 94-59, keeping its unbeaten record in the 2019-2020 season of the Women's Chinese Basketball Association (WCBA) on Thursday.

Meanwhile Shanxi, one of the season title favorites, had a 9-0 record after winning over Hebei 73-57, topping in the league standings temporarily.

Four players from Dongguan pocketed double-digit scores, helping the team to a big win.

Daqing's Zou Qijia scored a game-high 24 points, but the 21-year-old couldn't lead her team to grab the season's second victory.

Playing against Hebei, Shanxi had a 13-1 scoring spurt in the first quarter. Before the final quarter, Shanxi had built a 20-point-advantage. With 8:37 remaining on the clock, Yu Dong of Shanxi made a three-pointer and put the game beyond her rivals reach.

Elizabeth Cambage led Shanxi with 21 points and 11 rebounds. Hebei's Huang Pinzhen had a game-high 22 points.

In the other games played on Thursday, Xinjiang beat Inner Mongolia 94-80, Jiangsu defeated Shandong 76-58, Shaanxi lost to Shanghai 103-76, Zhejiang edged Fujian 92-89, Beijing outclassed Tianjin 100-83 and Sichuan defeated Henan 98-63.

Wuhan's game against Bayi was delayed due to weather.
