Olympic bobsleigh champion Kripps leads North American Cup ranking
NEW YORK - Olympic 2-man bobsleigh champion Justin Kripps has kicked off the 2019/2020 season at the ongoing IBSF North American Cup in Lake Placid, United States, where the Canadian finished the 2-man bobsleigh races with a second place and a victory, taking the overall lead with 230 points.
Codie Bascue and Joshua Williamson from the US won the first race in Lake Placid ahead of Kripps and Ben Coakwell, and their US compatriots Geoffrey Gadbois and Kristopher Horn.
In the second race, the victory went to Kripps and Cameron Stones, while South Korea's Won Yun-jong and Kim Jin-su finished second ahead of Hunter Church and Blaine McConnell from the US.
Chinese pilot Shao Yijun was sixth in the overall ranking after two races, finishing eighth and sixth respectively.
The IBSF North America Cup in Lake Placid, with two races per discipline, ends on Noember 21. In December, Lake Placid will host the first two events of the BMW IBSF World Cup 2019/2020.
