Science: Can't get the song out of your mind?
Have you ever experienced a situation where a special song or tune keeps repeating itself over and over in your head? Researchers from Tsinghua University may be able to shed light on how that happens. They have unveiled the neural correlation of listening to music and music recall in the human brain. The research was published in the Journal of Neuroscience. Researchers recorded electrical activity from 10 epilepsy patients implanted with subdural electrodes when they listened to music pieces such as Fur Elise and the Wedding March. By analyzing the neural signals directly obtained from the human brain, the researchers observed the dynamic activation of brain regions associated with listening to and recalling music.
Internet: 6G technology under consideration
While the world is planning to launch 5G networks, China has started thinking about 6G technology. Two research offices will help develop 6G, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology, kicking off the competition for the next-generation cellular data service that comes after the superfast 5G. The sixth generation mobile communication technology will advance existing information and technology resources. It will be able to use higher frequencies than 5G networks and provide substantially more capacity and much lower latency. One of the goals of the 6G internet will be to support microsecond latency communications at 1,000 times faster than present.
