Yi Jianlian's career score crosses 11,000 mark
Yi Jianlian's career score exceeded 11,000 points during the first quarter match against Sichuan in Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) league in Dongguan on Sunday.
The defending champions Guangdong beat Sichuan 118-115 with Marshon Brooks scoring 35 points, Yi 33 and Sonny Weems adding 31, making Sichuan's Courtney Fortson's game-high 41 points all in vain.
The home team scored 51 points in the second quarter to lead 72-51 into the halftime break. Sichuan fought back hard in the third and cut the deficit to only nine points by the end of the quarter. Guangdong held the slender advantage and sealed the victory at the final minute.
Guangdong overcame Liaoning 107-98 in the opening game of 2019-2020 CBA league in Dongguan on Friday.
Yi's career total score is 11,031 points, ranking second in the CBA history score list. He is only 134 points away from Zhu Fangyu (11,165 points).
