LAFC' Mexican forward Vela wins MLS MVP

Major League Soccer (MLS) on Monday announced that Los Angeles FC forward Carlos Vela has been voted the most valuable player this season.
The Mexican player scored 34 goals in regular season and added 15 assists as well.
"I'm working to be the MVP of the league," Vela was quoted by Los Angeles Times as saying. "If I want to do that, I have to show every game how good I am."
"Last year was the first year with my team, my first year in MLS, I felt like why not? I feel like I am better than the rest of the players. So let's make this happen. And I prepared myself, my body, to be in that position," added Vela, who joined the team from Real Sociedad in 2018.
Vela beat out LA Galaxy forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic of Sweden for the MVP award. Ibrahimovic scored 31 goals in his second MLS season.
Los Angeles lost to Seattle Sounders 3-1 in the Western Conference final last week.
